Mr. Daniel García (English/Language Arts/Reading)
I write poetry and edit books. I was lucky enough to be one of five winners of an essay contest while a graduate student at UTPA when Dr. Maya Angelou came for a visit. It was an all-time bucket list moment.
Who Am I?
This is my fifteenth year teaching high school English. I’m a writer, poet, former newspaper journalist, and songwriter. My books may be found at Barnes and Noble, etc. and online. I also founded and run the Rio Grande Valley International Poetry Festival (last weekend in April, annually.) As a published writer (former journalist and poet), I have lots of friends who write, so I invited some of them to visit for Hispanic Heritage Month. Check out the video here.
