Domingo Villarreal III, La Joya Early College High School principal

La Joya, Texas - Domingo Villarreal III, La Joya Early College High School principal, was honored at the La Joya ISD school board meeting on August 31 for the successful re-designation of LJECHS as an Early College High School for the upcoming academic year.

Each year, administrators from eligible schools across the state complete a comprehensive application to maintain their current status or acquire the Early College High School designation. The designation process is exhaustive and requires schools to demonstrate their capacity to implement various design elements for each benchmark set by the state.

The comprehensive application includes a robust evaluation of key performance metrics and best practices, among other criteria.

Through Villarreal's successful navigation of the re-designation process, along with the efforts of the LJECHS teachers and staff, La Joya Early College High School will enter its 11th year serving the La Joya ISD community.

The re-designation of LJECHS underscores the school's ongoing commitment to its mission of empowering students to earn high school diplomas while also preparing them for careers, obtaining college credits, or earning an Associate's Degree.
